Is Plated Gold Fake ?

Gold plated jewelry is made with real gold. To simplify, the process consists of real 14k,18k or 24k gold covering another metal used as a base. In Pink Confetti’s case, we use either .925 Sterling Silver as a base & for our more affordable pieces, a Stainless Steel base. Each item has a description of its properties.

Do You Offer Pure Gold Pieces?

Yes.
Pure gold is 24 karat, meaning that 24 out of 24 parts of the metal are gold. At a higher price point,  a lot of our pieces are able to be made with pure 24 karat gold which contains no under base metal. Please email us for your requests. pinkconfettiaccessory@gmail.com

How long will your gold plated pieces last?

In general, gold plated jewelry will last 2 years with the proper care. Gold plating wears out over time and can flake off, exposing the base metal underneath. It can also lose its luster and fades with time.

Are your pieces ok for eczema & sensitive skin?

Gold-plated jewelry is just as gentle on your skin as solid gold jewelry. Our Gold is plated over sterling silver, or stainless steel, which makes our pieces a very durable jewelry option for children.

My child has sensitive ears, Will your pieces turn them green or black ?

No. Our stainless steel & sterling silver pieces are hypoallergenic. Usually, when a breakout occurs it is because the base of the jewelry piece consists of an alloy or nickel metal. All of our products are alloy & nickel free

What does Gold Filled Mean ?

Gold-filled is constructed in two or three layers. The core metal is sterling silver. The gold is bonded to the metal, giving it a tarnish resistant life & a pure gold appearance. The layer of gold on gold-filled items is 5 to 10 times thicker than that produced by regular gold plating. Our gold filled items are easy to care for and will usually maintain its golden shine for a lifetime.

Can we swim & shower with our new jewelry pieces?

*Swimming with Jewelry

We do NOT recommend swimming with any jewelry you may have. When swimming in the pool (or hot tub) you're exposing your jewelry to chlorinated water and chlorine tends to react negatively with a lot of jewelry. Especially avoid swimming in chlorinated water if you're wearing silver as this will damage your jewelry. The chlorine will strip and possibly erode your jewelry piece(s).

*Bathing with Jewelry

Is perfectly fine in moderation. Usually a normal bathing soap & water will not ruin your jewelry.

We cannot say the same for any face washes, peels, masks, serums, shampoos, acne treatments etc. that you may use. Any chemical inside those products may cause a reaction to your gold.
